    choosing the right hill and wearing the right gear, including a well fitting helmet.
  • Learn the basic skills and take lessons before skiing and snowboarding.
  • Wear helmets, wrist guards, face and mouth guards, knee and elbow pads, goggles and
    sunglasses.
  • Skis, snowboards, skates and toboggans should be in good condition and of the correct size.
  • Dress in warm, bright, reflective clothes in layers.
  • Wear thick gloves, boots and neck warmers to protect against frostbite.
  • Use a designated hill.
  • Watch for objects and people.
  • Have fun during daylight or in good artificial light.
  • Safely walk up on the sides of the hill and look out for other people having fun.
  • Follow the rules.
  • Adults should supervise and be role models to children.
